From four Springer Spaniels to Leanne, on the marina deck One shop. Two ownerships. The same Springer Spaniel name above the door.
Bertie and Crew opened mid-2015 on Prince William Quay, the newest shop on the marina deck at the time. Charlie and Nicola named it after one of their four Springer Spaniels called Bertie. Three years later, in August 2018, Leanne Jones took the keys. She kept the name. The dog section kept its place at the back. The water bowl by the door is still there.
Leanne and her husband Tim had been coming to Brixham on family holidays for eleven years before they bought a fisherman's cottage off the harbour in 2009. They moved in permanently the same year. Leanne had a retail and holiday-letting background. Tim is a full-time plumber and gas engineer who joins the shop floor at weekends. The marina is the only commute either of them have.
The Becky Bettesworth exclusive came with the shop. Leanne renewed it, kept the back wall as the Bettesworth wall, and turned the front of the floor over to the bag, beauty and jewellery rotation the harbour-walk season turns over.
“The newest shop on the marina in Brixham, selling an off-the-wall mix of products for man's best friend, clothes for their owners and coastal themed gifts.”
